Eye Makeup Tips - How to Apply Eye Make-up

Your eyes are the focal point of your face. Be sure that your eye makeup techniques and choice of colors are most flattering to your eye shape and color. With eye color you can create the illusion of new shapes and sizes. Always keep in mind that light colors highlight and dark colors shrink or recede. Good eye make-up removers dissolve mascara easily without tugging at the delicate skin around your eyes. The eyes are always very important, as they are a reflection of the soul. They are the focus of the face.

Applying Eye Makeup

  • Get lush lashes without mascara:Rub a little petroleum jelly onto lashes to darken and define them. This works best on lashes that have a natural curl.
  • Pump up sparse lashes by dotting eyeliner pencil between them; use a shade that matches your lashes.( If you wear mascara, use a dark brown pencil ).
  • Ease mascara onto lashes of sensitive eyes by applying it to the tips of lashes only. Before the mascara dries, comb lashes with a clean lash brush to remove excess mascara, which could flake and irritate.
  • Brighten your eyes:Use a white eyeliner pencil to brighten and open your eyes by drawing light to them. Draw a thick line along your upper lashes and blend with your finger.
  • Boost your eyeshadow: Moisten the sponge applicator before applying powder shadow. The moisture makes the color go on darker for a bolder look.

CLOSE SET EYES: Apply eye shadow to the upper eyelids, blending the shadow upwards and outwards towards the outer corner of the eyes. Continue to blend until the shadow is considerably fainter in the area of the nose and the eye and somewhat darker at the outer corner. Line the eyes, leaving the inner corner of the eyes. Increase the distance between the eyebrows by removing hair in-between to make them appear wider apart.

DEEP SET EYES: Use a lighter shade of foundation immediately above the socket area of the upper eyelids and blend well. Do not use eye shadow as the sunken effect will increase instead of decreasing.

DROOPING EYES: They can be given a lift by tilting the eyeliner upwards and outwards before it reaches the outer corner of the upper lid. The shadow should be winged upwards avoiding the area at the outer corner of the eyes.

ROUND EYES: Make them appear longer by extending eye shadow and liner beyond the outer corner of the eyes. Blend the corner well for a soft look.

BULGING EYES: Use a dark shadow and blend it carefully over the prominent part of the upper lids carrying it lightly to the line of the brows

SMALL EYES: They can look larger by using two shades of shadow. Use a light shade on the upper eye lid and a darker shade on the crease. Apply the lower eye liner and kajal from the middle to the outside of the eye
